Ishmael Beah's life experiences have completely influenced his book, since its his own memoir. His book reflects his childhood and adolescence years, and all the events he went through at those times. I believe that he included the important occurrences and most of the minor ones, but not every single detail for the sake of the length of the book. He might have also left out some personal parts. I definitely consider this book to be authentic; its not bias in any way and it describes every event that happened, good or bad. Since its his own life he was writing about, there really can be no way for him to copy it from someone else.

I think that he chose to include these in his story to educate the world from a first hand experience and view of children being drafted to war. I believe that Ishmael left nothing out of his life in the book. I could really feel the emotions triggered by his incredible tale. It was almost like I knew he was being brutally honest. Overall, I consider this book to be very authentic. His experiences are genuine and the way it is written is incredible. Besides, it is a memoir of his childhood, so there is no way anyone besides him could write this same book.
